Congratulations to Francesca for the Junior BEC Award

Last week Francesca Ferlaino has received the Junior BEC Award 2019 for her “pioneering work on Bose-Einstein condensation of dipolar Erbium atoms and more generally degenerate quantum gases with long-range interactions and for realizing novel quantum phases of matter with such systems”.
The award, honoring outstanding achievements in the field of Bose-Einstein condensation, was presented at the international BEC Conference in Sant Feliu de de Guíxols.

The Italian ambassador to Austria, Sergio Barbanti, visits the AG Ferlaino

On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the foundation of the University of Innsbruck, the Italian ambassador to Austria, Sergio Barbanti, will visit our group. Professor Ferlaino will guide the ambassador, accompanied by the representative of the Innsbruck’s Italien-Zentrum Dr. Tasser and Ms Romeo, around the IQOQI’s and University’s labs.

 

ESQ Discovery project awarded to Manfred

Manfred has been awarded one of five ESQ Discovery projects, where the Erwin Schrödinger Center for Quantum Science & Technology supports radically new ideas, innovative research and high-risk projects, before they are sufficiently grown and competitive to succeed in established European or national funding schemes.

Claudia wins Top Poster Prize at ICAP 2018

Claudia Politi, a PhD student in the RARE Lab,  has won the first prize for best poster at ICAP 2018 in Barcelona.
More than 600 posters were presented during ICAP 2018. The prizes were decided by the Poster Awards Commission of ICAP 2018 presided by Prof. Fritz Haake.
