GF’s Short Profile

giuliabwGiulia Faraoni was born on 23rd September 1987 in Pisa (Italy). She studied Physics at the University of Pisa, where she received her Bachelor’s degree with a thesis on condensed matter Physics. She continued her Master studies in Pisa, and in the last part of them she performed
a nine months Erasmus Placement at the Physics Institute of the University of Heidelberg (Germany). During the period in Heidelberg she carried out her Master thesis in the group of Prof. Matthias Weidemüller, working on the experimental study of strongly correlated Rydberg gases. She finally graduated in Pisa on October 2014, having Prof. Ennio Arimondo as internal supervisor. On November 2014 she started her PhD at the Physics Department of the University of Florence and European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy (LENS) in Florence (Italy), in the group of Prof. Giovanni Modugno, where she worked on the design and construction of a new experimental apparatus aimed at the investigation of Bose-Einstein condensates in disordered potentials.

Starting from May 2016 she moved to Innsbruck to work in the Erbium experiment of Prof. Francesca Ferlaino as a visiting PhD student for approximately one year.
