ST’s Short Profile
Silvia grew up near the Gran Sasso mountains in the Italian Apennines. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physics, she worked with Maria Luisa Chiofalo, Dario Grasso, and Massimo Mannarelli on characterizing the thermodynamic properties of black hole analogs realized with weakly interacting Bose gases.
She then joined the Gran Sasso Science Institute for her PhD, focusing on the out-of-equilibrium properties of analog black holes. Together with Elena Poli and Thomas Bland—former members of the theory team in Francesca Ferlaino’s group—she contributed to the development of the first analog model of a neutron star using dipolar atoms in the supersolid phase.
In 2025, she joined the theory group of Prof. Francesca Ferlaino to work on Gross–Pitaevskii simulations.
