The International Senior &amp; Junior BEC awards have been established in 2011 to honor outstanding research in experimental and theoretical physics of quantum degenerate atomic gases.<br>This year\u2019s winners of the Senior BEC Award are the physicists Lev Pitaevskii and Sandro Stringari from the University of Trento in Italy.
