SC’s Short Profile

Samy was born in November 2000 in Lausanne, Switzerland. He completed his bachelor’s degree at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2023. For his master’s degree, he decided to focus on quantum physics and quantum electrodynamics. For an internship, he contacted Professor Jean-Philippe Brantut who welcomed him to the Laboratory for Quantum Gases (LQG). After one semester, he continued at LQG for his master’s thesis on the simulation and characterization of optical confocal cavities. He graduated in January 2026 and stayed for two additional months at LQG after completing his thesis. He then moved to Innsbruck to begin his PhD in the Erbium Lab of Francesca Ferlaino in May 2026.
