The Introductory Course on Ultracold Quantum Gases 2026 has come to an end!

We would like to thank all participants, lecturers, organizers, and supporters who contributed to four inspiring days of lectures, discussions, laboratory visits, and scientific exchange in Innsbruck.

It was a pleasure to welcome such an enthusiastic group of young researchers and to share insights into the fascinating field of ultracold quantum gases.

Atom*innen Networking Lunch

A special highlight of the summer school was the atom*innen networking lunch, which brought together students and early-career researchers for an open discussion about representation, visibility, and inclusion in quantum science.

We warmly thank atom*innen and everyone who participated and shared their perspectives and experiences.

Sunday 12th to Wednesday 15th July 2026

Our Summer school will give a basic introduction into the fascinating research field of cold atoms and ultracold quantum gases, which offers many exciting research opportunities for young researchers.

Twelves lectures given by experts from Innsbruck, Wien and Trento will cover the basic concepts of laser cooling and trapping, Bose-Einstein condensation, ultracold Fermi gases, ultracold molecules, strongly correlated quantum gases, and optical lattices. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art laboratories at the University of Innsbruck and the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information (IQOQI).

The course is aimed at students finishing their bachelor degree, master students and first year PhD students. Specialized knowledge in the field is not required; students should have a basic knowledge of quantum physics and atomic, molecular, and optical physics at the undergraduate level.

The Summer School will take place in Innsbruck, Austria from Sunday 12th to Wednesday 15th July 2026. It is organized by Francesca Ferlaino, Rudolf Grimm, and Hanns-Christoph Nägerl with administrative support from Silvia Bonazza.
