Since May 15th 2020, Lauriane has joined the Editorial Board of New Journal of Physics (NJP). NJP is a scientific journal publishing important new research with significance across a broad readership.

Jan is now Doctor of Philosophy
Jan held his defense for his PhD thesis and is now officially a Doctor of Philosophy.
He will continue to carry out his research as a post-doctoral fellow in the group of Selim Jochim in Heidelberg.

Simon Baier receives IQOQI Dissertation Prize
Simon Baier is honored for his dissertation “Ultracold Dipolar Erbium Atoms: From Scattering Phenomena to Quantum Simulations”, which gives an overview of his research on dipolar quantum phenomena. It documents Simon Baier’s research on the long-range magnetic interaction of ultracold particles, which he studied in the group of Francesca Ferlaino.

Physics: Highlights of the Year
The Physics magazine of the American Physical Society (APS) has named the discovery of supersolidity in ultracold quantum gases as one of the top ten highlights of 2019. The research group led by Francesca Ferlaino has for the first time obtained evidence of supersolidity in erbium and dysprosium gases. Similar experiments were conducted in Pisa and Stuttgart.
QuantERA project MAQS granted
Together with an international Consortium of six other research groups Francesca Ferlaino in collaboration with Peter Zoller successfully applied for funding of the project “MAQS” – Magnetic-Atom Quantum Simulator.
