Short video about the Erbium lab

Back in 2009, the Erbium experiment was starting with funding from the Austrian academy of science (through an FWF START-price) and an ERC Starting grant. Since the START price is now expired, the FWF send a Camera team to our lab for a short video. You can watch it here:

Giulia Faraoni is currently doing her PhD degree in Florence (Italy) at the LENS institute. To gather additional experience and skills, she will work with us for a full year on the Erbium experiment on dipolar quantum droplets.

Welcome to our group!

Extended Bose-Hubbard Model

ERBIUM NEWS

Now in Science! In collaboration with the theory colleagues in Innsbruck (Zoller, Baranov, Cai), we have realized and studied the extended Bose-Hubbard Model with dipolar Er atoms and studied how the superfluid-to-Mott-insulator transition is modified under the influence of the anisotropic and long-range dipole-dipole interaction.
