Welcome to Marta!

Marta is a master student at the University of Pisa and she is joining our group for nine months to work on her master thesis. Her project is locking a cavity to an atomic transition of dysprosium for our DyYb new lab. Welcome to our group, Marta!

Welcome to Cosetta!

Cosetta completed her bachelor and master studies in physics at the University of Pisa. For her PhD, she joined the group of Rudolf Grimm in Innsbruck, where she carried out experimental research on impurity physics in ultracold lithium–potassium mixtures. She then moved to Trento to work with Giacomo Lamporesi and Gabriele Ferrari on sodium spin mixtures, focusing on false vacuum decay. She later returned to Innsbruck to continue her research on impurity physics in Grimm’s group.
We are excited that Cosetta is joining our group as an Academy Scientist in March 2026!

Welcome to Fabio!

A warm welcome to Fabio Castañeda-Vopato who is joining our group as a PhD student for the construction of the new Dysprosium lab in Innsbruck!

Fabio completed his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and his Master’s degree in Physics of Matter at the University of Padova, Italy. His studies focused on quantum technologies on different platforms, as he worked on transmon-based quantum sensors for the axion dark matter candidate in both his master’s thesis at INFN and during a two-month academic internship at SQMS, Fermilab in the USA.

He approached th field of dipolar quantum gases during his Erasmus semester, while working in the Quantum Fluid group of Prof. Lauriane Chomaz at Heidelberg University for a five-months internship.

Welcome to Eder!

A warm welcome to Eder Vera-Guzman!

Eder completed his bachelor studies at Yachay Tech University, San Miguel de Urcuquí, Ecuador. FOr his Master studies, he was awarded with a full scholarship to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master QUARMEN, where he spent one semester at Rome studying physics. He completed his master’s thesis at Thales Research & Technology on laser architectures for the control of quantum systems right across Institut d’Optique Graduate School where he also received lectures.
Eder is joining our group for a collaborative PhD stay for the construction of the new Dysprosium lab in Donostia, San Sebastian.

Goodbye to Ester!

We say goodbye to to Ester Carranza Botey, who was joining our group here in Innsbruck as a guest for seven months. We wish you all the best for your future!

Goodbye to Héctor!

We say goodbye to Héctor Briongos, PhD student at the University of Barcelona, who was visiting our theory team since September. Héctor, we wish you all the best for the future and see you around!
