The last year passed by really quickly and unfortunately Giulia’s and Jan’s time here in Innsbruck is over and they are heading towards new goals. All we can do is saying thank you, for a very nice year and wish you all the best for your future. Needless to say you are always welcome here in IBK.

From June until August Blair Blakie, Professor at the University of Otago NZ, is visiting our group here in Innsbruck to work with us on various topics of dipolar quantum gases. Regarding his wide-spread knowledge from optical lattices, rotons, droplets, spinor condensates, mixtures,… we are looking forward to a productive time with him!
Welcome to Innsbruck, Blair!
Together with our theory colleagues from Hannover, we have investigated the formation of a macrodroplet state in an ultracold bosonic gas of erbium atoms.
On 3rd and 4th of November 2016 the Erbium team from Innsbruck, the Dysprosium team of Tilman Pfau from Stuttgart and theorists from Luis Santos group from Hannover gathered in Maria Waldrast for an informal meeting, to discuss future prospects of ultracold quantum gases of lanthanide atoms.
Originally from Caserta, Claudia Politi and Gabriele Natale are master students of the University of Pisa and now joined us in Innsbruck for the next full year. Welcome! 🙂
This year, from 6.-9. September 2016, the third edition of the workshop on ‘Long-range interactions in the ultracold’, took place in Ercolano (Naples, IT). Since the event was organised by Francesca (together with Antoine Browaeys and Robert Löw), the whole team joined in for the event, rented a Minibus and drove all the way down to southern Italy.
