We welcome Mikhail Iaushev to our group! Mikhail earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. During his studies, he began working in the Tm Optical Clock Group, led by Prof. Nikolay Kolachevsky at the P.N. Lebedev Physical Institute. For his Master’s thesis, Mikhail transitioned to a new project, building an experiment for quantum simulation using a tweezer array of Yb atoms. In September 2025, Mikhail joined T-REQS team as a PhD student.
From left to right: Rémy Dolbeault, Julius Franze and Marco Lucibello.
At the beginning of March, we welcomed three Masters’ interns to the 3 experimental labs! Rémy Dolbeault, Julius Franze and Marco Lucibello will be working in the Erbium, Er-Dy and T-REQS labs respectively for the next few months.
Rémy was born the 19th of March 2001 in Paris, and went to Lyon for his studies. He discovered the cold atom field thanks to a talk given at the school which completely caught his attention. He then went to Florence, Italy to do a 1st Master internship on vortices in the BEC-BCS crossover in Li-6, which confirmed his interest in this field of Physics. For the 2nd Master’s intership, he will spend five months in the Erbium Lab working on superradiance and superresolution.
Julius born on the 10th of January 2003 in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany. He did his Bachelors at Leipzig University with a focus on Plasma physics, and will now work with the Erbium-Dysprosium Lab for his internship.
Marco was born on October 13, 2001, and graduated in Physics in 2023 in Roma Tre University, with a thesis on “Entanglement and GHZ states.” He is currently enrolled at Roma Tre University for his Master’s degree, and will be working with the T-REQS Lab for his internship.
We said adieu to our Masters Intern, Felix Borchers, at the end of February! Felix joined the T-REQS lab for 5 months back in October 2024 from ETH Zurich, where he is currently in the third semester of his Masters in Physics. Good luck with the rest of your MSc., Felix – it was a pleasure having you here with us!
We said goodbye to Academy Scientist Andrea Di Carli at the end of October 2024! Dr. Di Carli joined the Ferlaino Group from the University of Strathclyde in March 2023, and he has now moved into an industry position in Munich. Best of luck at your new position, Andrea!
Felix Borchers joins us in the T-REQS lab for 5 months as a Masters Intern! Felix is originally from Bonn, Germany and in 2023 he completed his Bachelors in Heidelberg with a thesis on ‘Simulating Absorption Imaging of Ultracold Fermi Gases’. He is currently in the third semester of his Masters in Physics at ETH Zurich. Welcome to the group, Felix!
At the beginning of October, Arina Tashchilina joined our team as a Post-Doc in the T-REQS lab. Arina joins us from the University of Alberta where she was a postdoctoral fellow for three and a half years under the supervision of Prof. Lindsay LeBlanc. Welcome to Innsbruck, Arina!
